assemblage, Toronto

Sohyun Yoon’s ongoing work, Remnant Project (2023–), is composed of thousands of images she has collected over the past two years. These images are non-heroic, often depicting forgotten and overlooked architectural remnants. Displayed on vintage monitors, they continuously cycle, forming a self-generating and ever-evolving collage. Additionally, the meta tags associated with each image dynamically generate the soundtrack in real time, further expanding the audiovisual experience.

assemblage
assemblage is a public-facing storefront space dedicated to the exhibition of emerging artists. assemblage embraces “liveliness”: our research and activities consider questions such as: how are we interconnected with our environment, communities, and non-human ecosystems? Knowledge sharing and dissemination take the form of workshops, exhibitions, publications, and seminars. Our goal is to remain fluid as we embrace complex issues, acknowledge entanglements, and foster inter- and cross-disciplinary practices.
